Job Description

The Volunteer Recruitment Specialist will be responsible for the full range of administrative and office support for Meals on Wheels Central Texas Volunteer Recruitment. This is a part time, hourly position; estimate 25 hours per week and some flexibility in schedule. Reporting to the Volunteer Recruitment Manager, this position will assist in volunteer recruitment across all programs and teams for Meals on Wheels Central Texas. Key responsibilities for this position:

  • Actively collaborate with the Volunteer Recruitment Team and have fun!
  • Review volunteer applications, process background checks, and conduct new volunteer orientation.
  • Match volunteers to opportunities that suit their abilities and interests, and ensure thorough understanding of responsibilities. 
  • May schedule recruitment activities in the community to engage business/group and individual volunteers.
  • Represent Meals on Wheels Central Texas at external events such as volunteer fairs, fundraising events, and other volunteer engagement opportunities both during and after hours.
  • Ensure orientation packets and all training materials are readily available.
  • Respond to all incoming email/phone volunteer inquiry an application requests.
  • Assist with volunteer activities such as Adopt a Day and Card Day.
  • Maintain group team rosters with current information and keep frequent communications with team coordinators.
  • Ensure new volunteer information is accurately entered into Salesforce and information is kept up to date.
  • Maintain confidentiality of volunteer information.

Successful candidates will have prior volunteer recruiting experience or public-facing/customer service skills; experience in Salesforce or similar databases, proficient in Microsoft Office and cloud-based applications; experience in public speaking an community outreach; and demonstrates a healthy work environment by modeling desired behaviors and encouraging those in others. 

This position primarily works indoors, possibly in a hybrid work environment. Occasional local travel and some outdoor work environments. Must have a valid driver's license, and a form of reliable transportation for community engagement events. Constantly works on a computer in an administrative capacity. Occasionally standing or walking to present information in a public setting. Occasionally move objects up to 30 pounds.
