Job Description
Meals on Wheels Central Texas is honored to serve our older neighbors and adults living with disabilities in the Greater Austin area. Through our meal programs and other services, we help nearly 5,000 Central Texans live independently so they can age in place in their homes. To ensure that we are providing the best services and continuously improving them to support those we serve, we rely on volunteers to deliver a nutritious meal and friendly smile.
The ideal candidate is punctual, outgoing, and organized with great people skills and administrative abilities. The Substitute Specialist will assist with covering home delivered meals (HDM), Congregate meal delivery, and Congregate Sites. The Substitute Specialist will help ensure that health and safety standards are met and that a pleasurable environment is maintained. Other duties include administrative tasks, assisting participants with forms, and completing other required paperwork accurately with timely submissions. This position interfaces with volunteers and host site staff and may be required to respond to unexpected situations in a professional manner. A commercial driving license is not required.

The Substitute Specialist position is an on-call part time position.
Pay rate: $15.00/hour.
Skills & Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year work experience
- Must be dependable and exercise good judgement
- Regular and dependable attendance
- Valid Texas DL and good driving record
- Professional and courteous
- Insurable driver under MOWCTX's insurance policy required
- Good organizational skills
- Problem solving skills
- Conflict resolution skills
- Verifiable references
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Work Environment
- Work is performed both indoors in a climate-controlled office and some occasional visits to the main office downtown.
- Able to travel locally 100% of the time.
- Able to walk and stand for long periods of time.
- Constantly communicates with staff, clients, and other people. Must be able to exchange accurate information.
