Job Description

Meals on Wheels Central Texas is hiring a Controller to join our dynamic finance team. This position reports to the CFO. The Controller is responsible for the accounting operations of Meals on Wheels Central Texas (MOWCTX) and Meals on Wheels Central Texas In-Home Care (IHC). Duties will include the production of periodic financial reports, preparation of budget and forecasts, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of MOWCTX’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. The Controller also develops internal control policies and procedures. Full-time + benefits

Skills / Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration or equivalent business experience and 5+ years of progressively responsible experience

5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience

CPA or CMA preferred

Experience with creating non-profit financial statements

Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process

Excellent accounting software user and administration skills

Thorough knowledge of non-profit accounting principles and procedures

Broad understanding of accounting and ability to look at it from a holistic perspective

Skilled in organizing and manipulating data as well as understanding the implications of data

Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications

Ability to effectively communicate with all MOWCTX stakeholders

Excellent understanding and deciphering of numerical data and spotting mistakes

Ability to lead a team of accounting and finance professionals

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with changing priorities

Ability to strategically monitor and fine-tune operations of department and between agencies

Accuracy in all work performed

Highly organized and detail-oriented
